Installing electric gates at the entrance to your commercial premises looks smart and impressive, is extremely convenient for those who come and go, and – best of all – give you increased security. That’s probably why we do a lot of work fitting automated gates and electrifying existing gates on properties like schools, sports fields, factories, warehouses, construction yards and so many other places where people need protection along with easy access by remote control.
Over the years we have come to know just what people always ask when they are considering having automatic gates fitted, and we’re always ready with the answers! We’ve put together this page of questions we are asked most commonly about the installation of commercial electric gates and how they operate.
There are different types of operating systems, including underground hydraulic systems for heavy, large swing gates, through to lightweight 24 volt sliding gate systems. We offer a free consultation and site survey to determine what would best suit your premises and the location of the gate. Gates can be opened by remote control, pressure sensors or various other methods. Wired or wireless intercom systems can be installed along with access control keypads if you require.
Electric gates are designed to close automatically once an authorised vehicle or person has passed through them, so you won’t have unexpected visitors wandering through. It is very difficult – if not impossible – to force an electric gate open, or climb over it, particularly a solid, heavy sliding gate with a pneumatic motor. We take into account your security needs when assessing the best automatic gate style and system for your commercial property.
Subject to a site visit, we can advise you on a suitable system. We specialise in gate safety and retro fitting safety systems. Please contact us if you would like more information.
No matter what sort of gate mechanism you have for your electric gates – underground, gate arm or sliding gate for example – you will have an override key to disengage the motor so that your gates can be operated manually if there is no power.
Your electric gates should keep working smoothly for many years as long as you have them regularly serviced. We recommend a bi-annual service for commercial automatic gates which have fairly heavy use. Moving parts are subject to wear and tear and regular servicing will pick up any weak points and make sure your gate system complies with health and safety standards. Call the office on 01373 800151 and we will be pleased to provide costs and arrange a service appointment.
We fix faulty electric gates promptly and efficiently. Check that your gates are receiving power, that the remote control you are using is in working order, and that there is not an obstruction in the track or sensor arc of the gate. If everything is clear then you can call in our professionals and we’ll find and repair the fault.
